This is the fastest and most convenient way to obtain your RSA at home on the same day*. Full course with no hidden fees or charges.

Upon successful completion you will be emailed your NSW Interim Certificate which will permit you to work immediately. The fee paid for RSA training also includes the Liquor & Gaming NSW RSA Competency ID card - read below on how to obtain.

You will be permitted to complete your registration and payment online. We will email you workbook and assessment material. Once you have completed the assessment material, simply email back to AAAT at info@aaat.edu.au

* The time from purchase to being issued with an Interim RSA Certificate will depend on the number of attempts required to pass the assessment, we will endeavour to assist you in receiving your certificates in the quickest possible turnaround - average time 24 hours.

System Requirements

  • A valid Email account.
  • A valid form of identification.
  • Either a printer to print a NSW statutory declaration form, a hard copy of a statutory declaration form.
  • Either a Digital camera / scanner / fax / iPhone.
  • Australian postal / residential address.
  • A reliable broswer - we recommend Chrome

Email Correspondence Process

  • Step 1: Register and pay for your course - Upload your ID – we email course material to you;
  • Step 2: Complete your correspondence learning course at your own pace and from the convenience of home using the materials provided by us which will be emailed to you once you’ve registered;
  • Step 3: Once you’ve completed the course content, you’ll then complete the assessments provided to you, and email them back to us for marking;
  • Step 4: Before we can issue you with a Liquor & Gaming NSW, Interim RSA Certificate you will need to provide us with a;
    • Copy of the identification(You can upload this to your student account upon enrolment)
    • NSW statutory declaration that you completed the course without assistance (A stat dec. will be emailed to you with course materials, this can be uploaded to your student account)
    • Completed mandatory government survey about your training experience (This will be emailed to you with course materials, this can be uploaded to your student account)
  • Step 5: Once your assessment has been marked and approved by our assessor, you’ll receive a downloadable RSA NSW Interim certificate. You can start work immediately however you have 90 days to get your OLGR Interim Certificate replaced with your Photocard, this fee is covered in the cost of your training - no more to pay!

How do I obtain my Competency ID Card?

Important changes for RSA and RCG Competency Card

From 1 August 2015, Service NSW will manage the Proof of Identity check service for RSA and RCG competency card applications. This means there is no need to book an appointment simply click here to find your nearest utlet to submit your Competency ID Card application.

This new arrangement will simplify the way customers do business with the NSW Government. Service NSW is the government’s one-stop shop for transactions and has many locations around NSW.

Service NSW service centres and affiliated locations where Proof of Identity checks can be done can be searched for on its website at www.service.nsw.gov.au/service-centre

You are required to bring to your appointment 100 points of identification (see back of Interim Certificate for more information) and your Interim Certificate. Your RSA Photo Competency card will be ordered and sent to you within 3 weeks.

You have already paid the $70 application fee as part of the cost of your course there’s nothing more to pay!

Your Photocard will be ordered and sent to you within 3 weeks. You have 90 days to get your OLGR Interim Certificate replaced with your Photocard.

Can I work Straight Away?


You are permitted to work immediately with your interim certificate for a period of up to ninety (90) days in which time you will be required to apply for your competency card - click here for yopur nearest outlet. Please remember that it can take 3 weeks to process the card, so don't leave until the last minute or you may find you are unable to work.

What You Will Learn

Legally sell, serve and promote alcohol; Measure standard drinks and advise patrons; Assess and monitor the levels of intoxication of patrons; Sell or serve alcohol responsibly; Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits; Assess alcohol-affected customers and identify customers to whom sale or service must be refused; Refuse to provide alcohol to intoxicated patrons; Detect and prevent under age drinking.

How You Will be Assessed

To ensure that you meet the learning outcomes for this unit, you are asked to complete the following General Assessment requirements – there are three (2) main stages of the assessment:

1. Knowledge Assessment & Case Study Assessment

The knowledge & Case Study assessment refers to the assessment that is emailed to you once you have registered and purchased the RSA NSW Correspondence unit, each question must be answered correctly to enable you to receive your certificate. If an incorrect answer/s is submitted you will be resent the incorrect answer/s only to re-attemptanswer the incorrect question/s

2. Verbal Assessment

You will be required to contact the AAAT team on 1300 287 554

0800-1700 (AEST) Monday to Friday or

0800-1200 Sat & Sun.

  • The verbal assessment takes approx. 5 minutes to complete.
  • You will be asked three (3) randomly automated selected questions from the course content.
  • Please have your form of ID provided at commencement of training along with the ID number ready as you will be asked to verify and confirm this ID.

All assessment stages are required to be answered correctly, if a question is answered incorrectly during stage 2, the student will receive feedback/discussion from our assessors and asked to resubmit. Stage 1 requires 100% competency to enable the student to proceed as noted under heading ‘Knowledge Assessment & Case Study Assessment’

Learning Skills Required

To ensure you receive an adequate level of support with your training and assessment, please consider the following questions.

  • Do you consider yourself to have any disability, special needs, reading or writing difficulties that may have an impact on your ability to complete this Correspondence course
  • Do you believe you have the literacy skills to read and interpret documents such as:
    • Identification (ID) cards
    • Proof of age cards and driver’s licences
    • Statutory signage and warning signs
  • Wording within advertising or promotional material, such as in house policies and procedures and any other general plain English regulatory and advisory information issued by local, or state and territory liquor licensing authorities?
  • Do you believe that you have the numeracy skills to measure and calculate standard drinks or samples and calculate blood alcohol levels to determine alcohol consumption?

Please note:

  • Random sampling of students is conducted to ensure the authenticity of those completing learning and assessment online. A minimum standard of language, literacy and numeracy is required to complete online learning. If the participant fraudulently declares the minimum level is met, a statement of attainment may not be issued.
  • All students are questioned at the time of enrolment where they are provided with the opportunity to declare special needs in this area. If this is not indicated, the student has declared they have the minimum language, literacy and numeracy skills to proceed with online learning.
  • In addition, all students are required to undertake a short LLN self-assessment prior to the commencement of training. Satisfactory completion of the assessment is required prior to issuance of a statement of attainment.
