It is mandatory for certain people involved in Queensland's liquor industry to have a current responsible service of alcohol (RSA) certificate.
The required certification in Queensland is a Statement of Attainment, issued on completion of the national training package competency Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol. As a competency within a national training package, the Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol course
If you hold an RSA certificate from another Australian state or territory and that qualification is a Statement of Attainment in Provide Responsible Service of Alcohol, you can use this attainment in Queensland.
Note: If you hold a current OLGR-issued responsible management of licensed venues (RMLV) licensees' course certificate, you are not required to also hold certification in RSA. An RMLV certificate expires 3 years after the date of issue.

Perhaps, our clients say it best….
Having been in the hospitality industry for over 35 years and due to the requirement to move interstate and internationally I’ve been required to complete a range of RSA courses. The Access All Areas training programme is one of the best training modules I have completed
Mike, General Manager Resort Hotel, TAS
Just a quick email to mention how Alicia was exceptional with me today. She helped me throughout my RSA NSW online course and even stayed after work to make sure I would get my certificate -she saved my job and deserves the ''employee of the month''
William, NSW
I really appreciated the videos to make the situations more realistic. I also appreciated the 2nd and 3rd opportunities to get the answer correct rather than just being rejected as unsuccessful. It was also extremely helpful to know you were just a phone call away when I got really stuck.
Robyn, SA Vineyard
The Access All Areas RSA training programme was convenient and uncomplicated. The system was easy to navigate through and their customer service was excellent.
Mark, NSW
DELIVERY AND ASSESSMENT
SITHFAB002 – Provide responsible service of alcohol
This nationally recognised unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell or serve alcohol.
Responsible practices must be undertaken wherever alcohol is sold or served, including where alcohol samples are served during on-site product tastings. This unit, therefore, applies to any workplace where alcohol is sold or served, including all types of hospitality venues, packaged liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.
THIS COURSE IS SUITABLE FOR LEARNERS WHO:
The unit applies to all levels of sales personnel involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. Those selling or serving alcohol may include food and beverage attendants; packaged liquor salespersons selling in person, over the phone or online; winery, brewery and distillery cellar door staff; and supplier sales representatives. The unit also applies to security staff who monitor customer behaviour and to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for responsible service of alcohol (RSA) management.
This unit covers the RSA skill and knowledge requirements common to all States and Territories. Some legislative requirements and knowledge will differ across borders. In some cases, after completion of this unit, state and territory liquor authorities require candidates to complete a bridging course to address these specific differences.
EVIDENCE GATHERING
The assessments used to assess competence in this program include:
-
51 multi choice quiz questions
-
17 questions to interpret learner’s own interpretation of given scenarios and legislative documents
-
WISE 3.1 (workplace industry simulated environment) - 6 interactive video scenarios with between 5-10 interactive questions that require correct response
-
WISE 3.2 (workplace industry simulated environment -3 video uploads of the learner in a simulated environment responding to a suite of scenarios
-
Competency Conversation – Only required if WISE3.2 has been deemed unsatisfactory - Discussion that further supports and addresses the previous WISE Part 2 – video upload assessment. Conducted by the assessor
AMOUNT OF TRAINING
Your course will take you around six (6) hours to work through the learning material and then up to four (4) hours of assessment, depending upon your previous experience.
To ensure that you meet the learning outcomes for this unit, you are asked to complete the following General Assessment requirements – there are two (2) main sections of the assessment – Knowledge and Performance.
-
Knowledge assessments assess your ability to understand legislation, operational requirements to maintain required standards and duty of care around the service and consumption of alcohol.
-
Performance evidence is gathered by assessing your ability to undertake practical activities in working in a business which serves and sells alcohol, safely.
ASSESSMENT
Learners can expect to complete the following requirements during assessment:
The learner will move through five (5) modules of learning content.
Each module has a 30-minute time requirement.
Multi Quiz
After the completion of each of the five (5) modules, a multi choice questionnaire will be presented, allowing the learner to confirm their training, based on the module just completed
A total of fifty-one questions in the formative process will be completed before moving onto the next phase of assessment. All question must be answered correctly in order to move on to the next module. Failure of a question will mean the learning will have to be undertaken again.
Practical – Free Text
A further seventeen (17) questions will be provided to the learner, thirteen (13) of those questions require the learner to view a series of video content. The learner must then provide, in their own words, their own interpretation of viewed content. Remaining questions require the learner to source, read and interpret statutory legislative documents and identify in their answer the correct response. All answers must meet the benchmark requirements in order to be marked as correct. All questions must be answered correctly.
Interactive Videos - WISE 3.1 (workplace industry simulated environment)
A further series of six (6) interactive videos filmed in a hospitality simulated workplace environment will be viewed by the learner. The learner is required to interact with the video scenarios, submitting correct responses. There are between five to ten (5-10) questions per video scenario. Each scenario must be answered correctly before being allowed to move onto the next section.
Role Play – WISE 3.2 (workplace industry simulated environment)
In addition, there are three (3) video uploads a learner must submit where the learner is required to video themselves playing their part (role play) as the ‘Bar Staff’ interacting with another individual playing their part (role play) as the ‘provocateur’ (customer). The three (3) role plays will depict a variety of differing scenarios and are presented as an upload video to the RTO for further assessment. Each video asks you to complete a particular required skill. This must be demonstrated in the video. Make sure you can be seen interacting with another person in the video.
Competency Conversation (if required)
If the learner submitted video uploads have been deemed as unsatisfactory, a final ‘Competency Conversation’ is completed between the assessor and the learner before final approval and competency is granted and a statement of attainment dispatched.
If the learner’s videos are deemed satisfactory, final approval and competency is granted by the assessor and a statement of attainment dispatched.
