Disturbance complaint leads to outdoor alcohol ban on Paddington Bowling Club

15 May 2015

Alcohol was banned from Paddington Bowling Club's greens and other outdoor areas from 14 April 2015 after the club's corporate and social bowls activities were found to be unduly disturbing the neighbourhood.

NSW Police lodged a disturbance complaint under the Liquor Act that bowls functions and associated anti-social behaviour by patrons was affecting local residents including those residing at nearby Goodwin retirement village.

After considering the disturbance complaint, reports from OLGR inspectors and submissions in response from the club, the Secretary of NSW Trade & Investment decided to prohibit alcohol consumption on the bowling greens and other outdoor areas. The club can still hold functions on the greens without alcohol and serve alcohol inside the club building.
