Food Safety Supervisor Training - Recertification

The NSW Food Authority appreciates your continued efforts in delivering Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) training to food businesses to support a skilled and compliant retail food service sector in NSW, and help reduce the incidence of foodborne illness.
Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) have trained and issued FSS certificates to over 80,000 individuals since the FSS program was first implemented in 2010. The FSS certificate expires five years from the date of issue, with the first round of certificates expiring last September.
Between July and September this year, a large number of FSS certificates are due to expire. It is recommended that you contact all former students who have undertaken FSS training with you to remind them to check their FSS Certificate expiry dates and advise them of the recertification process.
An Individual whose FSS certificate is due to expire and who wishes to recertify; should be reminded that they must enrol in recertification training with an approved RTO under the FSS program in order to attain the required units of competency and be issued with a valid certificate. The units of competency must incorporate the following 3 key focus areas:
1. Safe egg handling
2. Allergen management
3. Cleaning and sanitising practices
