NSW Extend Competency Card expiry

6 July 2022

The NSW Government is providing extra support to the hospitality industry by extending free refresher courses to 28 February 2023.

We are extending renewal periods and waiving renewal fees for all holders of Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) competency cards that expire between 1 February 2020 and 28 February 2023. This free renewal also applies to those that hold a Responsible Conduct of Gambling (RCG) endorsement on the same card.

Holders of RCG-only cards which expired since 1 February 2020 or where expiry is due by 28 February 2023 may also renew if they pay the standard RCG renewal fee.

Eligible renewals must be completed by 28 February 2023.

We are committed to supporting the hospitality industry as we continue recovery efforts by making it easier for you to come back to the industry.

Once you have completed your refresher course(s) your competency card will be renewed enabling you to work in the industry again, without needing to complete a full RSA or RCG course (where applicable) and pay the associated fees.

Renewal notices are sent every 30, 60, and 90 days before your expiry date. If your RSA or RSA/RCG card is due to expire after 30 June 2022, you may have recently received a renewal notice, including a request to pay a renewal fee. You can disregard this notice. When you go to renew your RSA or RSA/RCG competency card using links provided in the new renewal notices, the online form will automatically change your renewal to $0.
